Lake Barrea and its activities

The Barrea Lake is an artificial reservoir created in 1951 by a barrage of the Sangro River. On the lake, located inside the National Park of Abruzzo, overlooks Barrea, Villetta Barrea and Civitella Alfedena. The lake offers many possibilities to its visitors, and is appreciated by anyone who goes there, just see the reviews on TripAdvisor to which I refer. The lake in summer is a fantastic place to sunbathe on the beach of Gravara, or where to rent a canoe or a pedal or take a bath in the always fresh waters of the lake. The beach of Gravara in Barrea, or that of the Safini, always in Barrea, are also equipped with Bar and refreshment point. The Safini is also equipped with an outdoor swimming pool.   For lovers of Fishing the lake is full of carp (carp fishing) also very large and also Cavedani, trout and perch real, excellent therefore for days of fishing, as long as you comply with the rules of the park and any daily permit available at the museum Of the Wolf to Civitella Alfedena.   Around the lake there is the bike path, also ideal for trekking, with very little difference, accessible then to all, even if being unpaved requires the use of a mountain bike. Going around the lake is a long route about 10km. Barrea Castle Panorama Around the lake of Barrea there is the possibility to visit the 3 villages that overlook the lake, Villetta Barrea, where it is easy to meet deer along the village, Civitella Alfedena, where you can visit the Museum of the Wolf and warn someone if you are lucky , and Barrea, famous for the beauty of its historic centre and its castle perched atop the lake and its panoramic square, the most photographed location of the entire Abruzzo National Park because it certainly gives the best panoramic view of the lake.
