Lake Barrea is a lake created in 1952 by the barrage of the Sangro river and some smaller streams such as the Rio Acqua dei Monks, the Profulo and the Rio della Valle, at the foot of the village of Barrea.

The Lake is wide over 300 hectares and over 4.5 km long and about 500 meters wide, with a maximum depth of about 30 meters. It is located at a altitude of 980 meters above sea level.
